29 & September

The 29&September Story

29&September creates unique, personalised products to help stylish & fun women celebrate the small wins & the big events, in their own way.

Thank you card, 29&September

I started 29&September to inspire people to host beautiful gatherings, whatever the occasion, without it costing a fortune & taking weeks to prepare. As the business focuses on events, I thought it was fitting to use a date as the company name. One of my favourite sayings is ‘every day is a gift, that’s why we call it the present’ & I try to live my life by this & encourage others to do so through my brand. I chose my birthday as the date for the business as I liked the idea that we all start from here & develop our life into what we want it to be.

The design aesthetic is sophisticated & stylish with an element of fun & I aim to inspire readers & customers to create. Whether it be a DIY project, styling an event or simply just making dinner, I want it to be an enjoyable experience that's easy & affordable. I don't believe you need a huge budget to have a good time, or to have style.

29&September has a wide range of products, including stationary, signage, gifting, accessories & styling services. I have lots of ready to ship items, but I love working with clients individually to create a design that really caters to their taste, so I also offer personalised items. Customer service is really important to me & I love to hear from any visitors to my website, so you're more than welcome to get in touch for a free consultation, if you have any questions, or if you just want to say hello!

About Vicki

Hi, I'm Vicki, founder of 29&September. I love the design process, from start to finish - from going out into the world & being inspired (I get a lot of ideas from old architecture, travel & nature), to doing initial ideas with pen & paper, to getting final ideas printed or made. I like to create things that will evoke a sense of emotion in people, rather than just creating a generic object. That's another reason why I focus a lot on creating designs for events &  weddings. I love the idea that my designs will be treasured for years & will make up part of someone's story.

If you'd like you can learn more about me below, or contact me with any questions, or if you'd like to collaborate.

Vicki the designer

Prior to 29&September, I worked in the fashion industry for 12 years. I started my career as a merchandiser for some of the worlds biggest retailers, including the Arcadia group (the parent company of Topshop, Dorothy Perkins and Miss Selfridge), French Connection & Zara. I then moved into design roles for fun loving English brand Boden, Alice McCall in Sydney & I then started freelance design & consulting. My design, marketing & garment production degree have allowed me to work on a variety of different projects, which have all influenced 29&September in some small way. I feel fortunate to have been able to get such varied experience & think this gives me a unique perspective on the design industry.

Vicki the painter, printer, calligrapher & anything else I can make a mess with

Although my designs are finished in Photoshop or Illustrator, they always start by hand. Whether it be with some simple sketches, throwing (literally) paint on a canvas, dying with salt (one of my faves - I've even taught a class on it) or using an old fashioned printing press, I love the imperfections & unique qualities of real life art, the kind that doesn't have an undo button. It also seems that I love making a mess & am generally considered to be the clumsiest person in the room....I've even earned the nickname 'Bambi', or on a really bad day, 'Bambi on ice'.

Vicki the event planner

A lot of the 29&September brand has developed from my love of entertaining friends & family, usually at casual gatherings at home, but occasionally I'll plan a wedding or major event. Although there is a lot of information online about weddings & events, I found a lot of it was complicated, expensive or impersonal. I also found very little online to cater to small events, which is why I share my findings through the blog. All of my ideas are tried & tested on my family, I love having everyone together & make any excuse for a celebration.

Do we sound like a good fit? If you're interested in working together please feel free to get in touch via this link.
