A while back, I was able to spend a long weekend in the Hawkes Bay region of New Zealand. The area is famous for being a food and wine lovers heaven, so it has been on my hit list for a while!

I stayed in a cute and beautifully rustic cottage, that I found through bookabach (a go to website for anyone looking for a holiday rental in New Zealand).

There are a huge amount of vineyards to visit in the area, my favourite was the Rod McDonald one as you could also enjoy a picnic amongst the vines and it had an ocean view. The wine was amazing too - what more could you want!

I also have to mention a restaurant in Havelock North called Maina, it was one of the best meals I’ve ever had….couldn’t quite believe it. I had their roast pork with crackling, which seems to be really popular - I can understand why. Photo by Mania restaurant - you can find more about them here.

If, after all of that food and wine you feel the need for a workout, I recommend Te Mata peak. The view at the top is incredible & it has lots of tracks for different abilities. You can even drive to the top if you’re feeling lazy!

I absolutely loved this place and can’t wait to go back, I wish it wasn’t so far away! For more info on traveling to Hawkes Bay, you can visit the tourist information website here, or you’re welcome to ask me any questions by commenting below….
